John
Sanchez

Founder & CEO

John is a repeat founder and CEO with over 20 years of experience providing sevices and technology solutions to law firms and in-house legal departments. In 2003, he founded Black Letter Discovery (BLD) which was an early pioneer in optimizing outsourcing through onshore delivery, workplace happiness, and process and productivity management. BLD was acquired by private equity, and is recognized as having created practices for large scale review that have been adopted across the industry. He went on and founded the managed review division of Advanced Discovery, which drove the company’s growth before being acquired by private equity; and then co-founded Managed Discovery to provide ediscovery infrastructure fully outsourced and managed to leading companies and law firms. In 2016, John founded SaGo to provide software applications designed for smarter compliance and information governance. He holds degrees from UCLA and UC Hastings College of the Law, and is a member of the California State Bar. He is a founding advisory board member of The Institute of Entrepreneurial Leadership at JFK University, and was a mentor for AT&T’s Operation Hand Salute. He currently sits on the board of directors for International Sanctuary (www.isanctuary.org), a global non-profit providing hope and dignity through meaningful employment, job training, and work experience to girls and women escaping human trafficking.

James is a seasoned litigation attorney, having served as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, and having practiced antitrust, intellectual property, commercial, and employment litigation at several law firms. James has developed an expertise in e-discovery, serving as discovery counsel in data intensive litigation matters. James has worked with large and small clients and law firms in executing efficient and defensible strategies for their e-discovery litigation challenges. James has led multi-state review teams on major investigations and delivered start-to-finish e-discovery solutions for his clients. James integrates his litigation experience, a number of best practices, and the latest available e-discovery technology and software to find effective and efficient solutions for clients. James began his legal career as a federal judicial law clerk and appellate staff attorney upon graduation from Washington University in St. Louis.

Operations

Ray has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, primarily focused on equity sales and trading. He has worked for leading firms such as CLSA, Sanford C. Bernstein, and most recently as a Director at Deutsche Bank. His experience includes working, living, and serving customers in North America, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Japan. He is excited to bring Sago’s solutions to the legal and compliance industries as a tool for risk mitigation and efficiency. Ray is a Mandarin speaker and holds a B.A. in Economics from UC Berkeley (Go Bears!).
